Hypnotherapy

What is Hypnosis?

Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is a totally natural state of mind. Have you ever drifted off when thinking of a loved one, or forgotten part of a car journey? The feeling is like day dreaming.  You could get up and do something, but you just can’t be bothered!  These all happen during natural everyday states of hypnosis. We use this altered state to carry out hypnotherapy.  There are numerous ways to achieve this altered state, but as people don’t tend to focus or relax enough these days, hypnosis is induced through a lovely guided relaxation session. Clients are also taught self-hypnosis to use at home.

When under hypnosis you will feel very relaxed, just like that wonderful feeling when you are tired lying in your bed and you are so overcome with comfort that you wish the moment could last forever.

What is Hypnotherapy?

Through simple, techniques you can easily attain this state and with the help of a trained hypnotherapist, visualise yourself reaching your goals whatever they may be; a healthier, happier, more confident non-smoking you perhaps?  Sometimes successful outcomes may require wandering back in time and gently reframing events in the past which have subconsciously triggered your present concerns.

Specialisms:

I specialise in weight control.

Gastric Band Hypnotherapy is the pioneering treatment for weight control. It involves Hypnotherapy to assure clients that they have undergone actual Gastric Band surgery. This gives all of the benefits of fitting a Gastric Band, without having to go through the trauma of surgery or suffering dangerous side effects.

I am an Advanced Weight Control specialist who has the expertise to help you address and resolve any underlying issues linked with food and eating patterns and changing your lifestyle. Hypnotherapy does take work on behalf of the client. It is not a magic wand. The treatment uses a combination of Cognitive Hypnotherapy techniques, Visualisation, Neuro Linguistic Programming and, of course, Hypnotherapy. Once we resolve any underlying issues the next phase is the gastric band “operation”. This is where we take you through virtual gastric band surgery using powerful visualisation techniques.

Treatment begins with an initial free consultation lasting for about twenty-thirty minutes. We suggest a commitment to a programme for this treatment, with the Hypnotic Gastric Band session if the client is eligible. We usually schedule the sessions on a weekly basis, each one lasting approximately an hour. In my experience, the most successful clients then agree to ongoing support. (We schedule sessions as often as necessary. This happens in consultation with the therapist depending on the client’s progress and how much weight is left to shift.

Other Services

I also treat people for depression, anxiety and stress*. Clients’ health and emotional problems often seem to originate from these conditions. Together we will work out simple habits and tools, which, if regularly practised can bring such positive changes. I have personal experience in how anxiety can limit the choices you are able to make in your life and I love enabling people to regain that freedom.

I started to work with clients suffering from insomnia when my GP started referring people to me.  Often after visiting the sleep clinic, trying drugs and none of it working long term.  As a holistic therapist, I use ICBT (Insomnia Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) together with hypnotherapy.  My aim is for clients to just not think about sleep anymore after obsessing about it for so long!

I also work with employees and management in Mindfulness, resilience building and stress management training.
