Losing weight can be a never ending battle for some people. As a hypnotherapist I specialise in weight control using hypnosis for weight loss and helping people resolve issues surrounding food and what causes people to repeatedly gain weight. The emotions that people have regarding food can be very complicated ranging from childhood habits, for example being rewarded with food, all the way to people putting on weight to literally keep others at a distance. These issues have to be resolved before successful weight loss can occur.
The treatments to help resolve the underlying issues include a combination of Cognitive Hypnotherapy techniques, Visualisation, Neuro Linguistic Programming and, of course, Hypnotherapy.
Once the client has successfully dealt with his or her issues, the next step is the Hypnotic Gastric Band. It works by convincing the subconscious mind that the client had an actual gastric band fitted without having to undergo surgery and having to endure any pain or side effects. This way the client can receive the benefit of gastric band surgery without having to go through the trauma of real surgery.
Treatment begins with an initial free consultation lasting for about twenty-thirty minutes. Commitment to four sessions is generally suggested for this treatment, with the Hypnotic Gastric Band session on the fourth session. These sessions are usually scheduled on a weekly basis, each one lasting approximately an hour. In my experience, the most successful clients then agree to ongoing support (sessions can be scheduled as often as necessary) in consultation with the therapist depending on the progress made and how much weight is left to shift.
Why Diets Don’t Work
Many of us have spent years dieting and the reason the weight loss is often only temporary is that the change is not at a fundamental level. You change your eating and exercise habits during the “diet” only to go back to how you lived before the diet as soon as you have lost some weight. Your mind can see the change as only a temporary measure. This way, you could potentially be “on a diet” for the rest of your life!
By dealing with the underlying issues you are able to establish a new relationship with food and can set yourself up for success.
