Regularly getting a good night’s sleep is crucial for our health and wellbeing. Unfortunately, not all of us are able to achieve this. We sometimes find it hard to fall asleep, because of worries, stress or physical pain. At other times, we only get interrupted sleep due to noise, a new baby or our time of life. As a result of this, the next day is usually difficult; we find it hard to concentrate and are highly irritable. If we can’t get enough sleep on a regular basis, this is called insomnia and it can be exhausting.
Insomnia is defined as not getting enough sleep, which could be either due to not being able to fall asleep, waking up several times a night or getting poor quality sleep. This can be either temporary, but recurring or on a constant basis (for more than a month).
How Insomnia Hypnotherapy Can Help
Hypnotherapy can be a very effective treatment for insomnia, as the client is being taught relaxation techniques that will help them drift off to sleep more easily. Under hypnosis we also often discover the roots of insomnia. If these are linked to anxiety or depression, hypnosis for insomnia can help the existing treatment.
If clients have been suffering from insomnia for a long time, the subconscious will be affected by this disturbed sleep pattern. Suggestions given under hypnosis can break negative thought patterns that have built up and put the client into a vicious circle of not being able to sleep and worrying about it, making the problem even worse.
In addition to that, clients are given the right tools by their hypnotherapist to help themselves get into the right mindset to be able to drift off to sleep.
As every person is different, there is no hard and fast rule as to how many sessions are needed. Some people will need several sessions, whereas others will be able to sleep well again after only one session. An initial consultation with your hypnotherapist will give you a better understanding of how many sessions you may need.
