What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced Rey-Key, is a Japanese word meaning Universal (Rei) Life Energy (Ki). In plain English Reiki is a hands-on healing system that uses the natural surrounding energy and the energy of every living thing.
The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing, developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th century, which is activated by intention. It can work on every level: mental, emotional and spiritual not just the physical.
Reiki is a non-invasive, clothed therapy whose purpose is to treat holistically and to restore balance.
What can it be used for?
Reiki can be used to help with many things, amongst them:
- Stress reduction
- Pain relief
- Reducing blood pressure
- General well being
- Clearing energy blockages
- Speeding up healing
- Boosting energy levels
- Emotional healing
- Help with insomnia

What does it feel like to receive a Reiki treatment?
Some clients feel don’t feel particular sensations during a Reiki treatment, but there are always feelings of deep relaxation and calmness. Some clients feel tingling or heat whereas others experience emotional responses such as the feeling that blockages are being removed allowing an emotional balance to return. All of this varies from person to person and even session to session.
